What is Feng Shui?
Feng Shui if often referred to as "acupuncture for the home" because both practices involve manipulating energy flow to promote balance and well-being. Just as acupuncture uses needles to unblock energy pathways in the body, Feng Shui uses the arrangements of objects and space to improve the flow or energy, or Qi (or chi), in a home or building. In Feng Shui, Qi is often visualized like water – fluid, dynamic, and responsive to its environment. It enters through the “mouth of Qi” (typically the front door), meanders through the rooms, and exits through windows or other openings. When this flow is disrupted – by clutter, poor layout, or harsh angles – it can create energetic stagnation or turbulence, much like blocked meridians in acupuncture.
Just as acupuncturists use pulse diagnosis, Feng Shui practitioners use the Bagua map to assess energetic imbalances. Each Gua in the Bagua map corresponds to a life area – wealth, health, relationships – and can be “treated” with elemental enhancements, symbolic objects, or spatial adjustments.
Your home isn’t just a place – it’s a reflection of your inner world.
When your space feels good, you feel good.
The Bagua map divides a space into nine areas, each associated with different aspects of life, and each area is called a ‘gua’. The Bagua is a central tool in Feng Shui, a grid overlays a floor plan to analyse the energy of the space.
